During my recent escapade to Velingrad, I had the pleasure of staying at Стаи За Гости the Old House-a charming spot that immediately embraced us with its rustic allure. Nestled in a beautifully restored 120-year-old house, this accommodation shines with lovingly painted furniture and enchanting carvings, perfect for a beer enthusiast like me seeking an authentic local experience away from the ordinary concrete hotels. Despite the language barrier with our wonderful hostess, a friendly Bulgarian lady was more than happy to assist with translations, showcasing the warm-hearted hospitality characteristic of this place. Our late arrival was met with a delicious dinner-a hearty pork steak with chips, all washed down with a refreshing local beer, the perfect introduction to Bulgaria's culinary delights. What truly stands out is the peaceful atmosphere; I often find that large hotel chains can feel stuffy and impersonal, but here, the sound of silence was refreshing. The room, spacious and well-integrated with a clean en-suite, featured a cozy fireplace that would surely be an inviting companion for those chilly winter nights. If you're looking to unwind and soak in the local culture, this delightful inn offers just that! With its proximity to restaurants, shops, and more, the Old House is an ideal base for exploring Velingrad's charm. I couldn't recommend this gem enough, especially for those willing to embrace local customs and experience a slice of Bulgarian life!
